About this deal

The TCL RC630K supports every version of HDR – HDR10, HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), HDR10+, and Dolby Vision, which is very welcome at this price point. It means never having to compromise, no matter which version a specific source is using, and the dynamic metadata in HDR10+ and Dolby Vision allows the TV to transcend its inherent limitations when tone-mapping HDR content. Accordingly, if you’re looking for a Roku TV or 144Hz support or anything else, you can find it within TCL’s many different UK TVs on offer; however, for the purposes of this guide, we’ll be focusing on TCL’s flagship, lower-cost TVs with the most mainstream appeal. One that won’t be made familiar to everyone, the RC630K is a UK-exclusive QLED running Roku TV that is likely to be available from September (or shortly thereafter). It has many of the same features as the C635, including HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, along with the Onkyo sound system, albeit using Dolby Audio rather than Atmos, but there are a few other notable differences.

The claim is 178° off-angle viewing; the reality is about 120° before colours start washing out and 145° before it is unviewable. Keep your viewing area tight. At less than half the cost of a TCL C835 mini-LED, this TV performs quite well. I mean, a trained eye can see the difference; motion is not as smooth, it is not as bright, and the detail in highlight and dark areas is not as good – but overall, it has decent, above-average performance for the price. It’s really hard to poke holes in the TCL RokuTVRC630K, given the price. Sure, there are a few things we’d like from the set, but, quite simply, you can’t argue with the cost.We are rating this as a lower-cost value device. The first thing we notice as the delivery driver helps carry the set inside is how remarkably light the unit is. 12kg without the stand, to be exact. It comes in a smooth brushed metal finish, and the only sign the RC630K is a Roku set is when you switch the thing on. A super slim design makes the 55in set a little easier to manoeuvre around the room, and won’t look shabby mounted on your wall either.In game mode, the G-t-G response is 15ms, and the HDMI 2.1 port is only 4K@50Hz or 2K@100Hz.
