That’s a bit surprising as well—the rest of HyperX’s keyboards come in Cherry MX Blue, Brown, and Red variants, but you’re stuck with Silvers here. Upon first glance, it appears the same as what we have seen with the previous Alloy models, but as you go on about trying to customize the keyboard, that is where things get a bit different. This keyboard comes with Kailh Speed Silver switches and those only, there’s no variety (like Kailh Speed Copper or Bronze) but that’s the least of my worries, it could very well be due to mass production of one single keyboard type being cheaper than producing 2 to 4 different variants not counting different layouts and keycaps. It is where you can choose the language of the presented information, grab the manual, and can even check for updates to the software and firmware, as well as resetting the entire suite to its factory default settings. It has a wrist rest and more extra features like dedicated media keys, a volume wheel, and a USB passthrough.

The exposed LEDs on the keyswitches amp up brightness of the RGB backlighting which can be customized with the easy-to-use HyperX NGenuity software to make your stream really stand out. The Kailh Silver Speed have a noticeably different feel compared to Cherry MX Red switches found in both of the previous Alloy FPS keyboards I reviewed.I've trieddd several fixed - none of which workedd,,,, ,, and I'm pretty much on the verge of sending it back bbecause it'ss annoying as HELL! I was ready to push out this review earlier until a representative for HyperX contacted me to see if I was interested in also taking a look at their new replacement keycap set. The HyperX Alloy FPS RGB is compatible with the HyperX NGENUITY software, which is only available on Windows. It comes with a detachable wrist rest and has dedicated media keys, a volume wheel, and a USB passthrough. Pick a key, a menu appears in the open area below, and is where you can pick from default functionality, another keyboard function, mouse function, multimedia, recorded Macro, Windows shortcuts, open something, or disable it.

The sleek tenkeyless form factor gives you more space for rapid mouse movements, especially in desktop setups that are too tight for a full-sized keyboard. The keyboard feels well-built, with a metal top-plate and no flex evident when I gave the board a good twist. While also not directly related to my in-game experience, I can’t state enough how gorgeous the backlighting looks.The lack of switch choices may turn off some potential clients, and for us the switch choice makes the keyboard frustrating for daily use outside of gaming. On the other hand, the HyperX takes a bit less space on your desk, and the Kailh Silver Speed switches it uses have shorter pre-travel and should feel a bit more responsive. The presets included in the Effects tab are: Solid, which lights the whole keyboard with one color; Breathing, which is similar to Solid, but the keyboard dims and brightens slowly; Wave, the preset that sends pretty rainbow colors across your keyboard; Trigger, which temporarily lights whichever key you press; Explosion, which causes a ripple effect starting at whichever key you press; HyperX Flame, which lights the rest of the keyboard above any key you press in a manner somewhat reminiscent of a flickering flame; and finally Cycle, which slowly cycles through various colors. One of the biggest selling points of the Alloy FPS RGB is that it’s currently the only keyboard in HyperX’s line-up to offer Speed switches and one of the rare few to drop Cherry in favor of Kailh.

If you do quite a bit of productive things on the PC as well, there are things to consider before throwing money at HyperX.It offers fantastic customization options, allowing you to set macros, customize RGB lighting, and save as many profiles as you'd like on the program. The Origins provides a better typing experience, thanks to its well-spaced and stable keys and proprietary linear HyperX Red switches that feel light and responsive. The steel plate is thicker than average, which adds structural integrity to the keyboard while also acting as the frame on top.
