About this deal

Unless another compilations happen in parallel to the Yearbook series in the future… After all, there are few artists who appear in other NOW compilations (like DM or Madonna), why wouldn’t they appear in a new series of compilations ? Foreigner’s ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’, Go West’s ‘We Close Our Eyes’ and the title track from Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s debut (the only single not to get to number one in the UK from that album). There’s more from the ZTT ‘songbook’ courtesy of Propaganda’s ‘Duel’ on CD 3 along with songs from Howard Jones (‘Things Can Only Get Better’), Stephen Duffy’s hit (‘Kiss Me’), Nik Kershaw’s ‘Wide Boy’, Fine Young Cannibals’ ‘Johnny Come Home’ and King’s ‘Love and Pride’. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse.

Protecting this cd box set with additional cardboard packaging to make sure that the 4 cd box arrives in great condition. Synth-Pop from Thompson Twins, Dead Or Alive, Stephen Duffy, Howard Jones is here– and another collaboration between Gary Numan and Shakatak’s Bill Sharpe on ‘Change Your Mind’ – before Elton John, Paul Young, and King, wrapping up with three exquisite soulful ballads from Billy Ocean, Jermaine Jackson, and Commodores. Luckily the recent Now Dance 80s set has more than made up for any slight disappointment in the yearbooks. I would add “Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)” by Pink Floyd to the ’79 set since it was a UK Christmas No.There will surely be a full public enquiry into how Kate Bush’s‘Running Up That Hill’ DOESN’T end up on a compilation celebrating 1985 (especially one that that is released in 2022).

However, every compilation I have (including Osmonds ones) has the same WRONG version, EXCEPT for Reader’s Digest Sounds Of The Seventies 1973, which got it right! Sting’s excellent ‘If You Love Somebody Set Them Free’ is on here, although that wasn’t the big hit you might remember, while Midge Ure’s‘If I Was’ did, of course, get to number one in Britain. Hi – Re the 1979 Extra Plus, one or two typos but main issue is Still by the Commodores was on the main 1979 Yearbook (cd4, track 14). NOW is proud to present Yearbook Extra 1985 – 3 CDs featuring 60 more stellar pop moments from 1985.Read more about the condition New: An item that is still in its original shrink wrap from the manufacturer and the original manufacturer’s seal (if applicable) has not been removed. Maybe it’s because those years (particularly 85) were great years for pop and even if there were another five extra editions for them, they’d still be missing some classics. Products labelled '*item fulfilled by Exertis on behalf of hmv' will be supplied to you directly by Exertis via their approved couriers. s ‘I’m Your Man’, ‘Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves’, Eurythmics collaboration with Aretha Franklin, Tears For Fears’ Head Over Heels, Howard Jones’ ‘Look Mama’, Go West’s Don’t Look Down (The Sequel), Thompson Twins’ ‘Don’t Mess With Doctor Dream’ and many more. and their I’m Your Man’, disc one continues with the collaboration between Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin, and huge hits from Go West, Tears For Fears, Pat Benatar, and Billy Idol.

On the other hand, I have plenty suggestions for More Extra Plus volumes for all years 1979-1984 so it probably does come down to what they can easily license. I would love to start a thread illustrating where the “wrong” versions are always used on CDs, and I would do a playlist of these and “missing” tracks, but some are impossible to track down. One important point – if a track from an Extra Plus playlist is subsequently included on a future Yearbook or Extra release, then a substitution will be made. Bicycle Race (Queen), Oh Carol (Smokie), Greased Lightnin’ (John Travolta), Now That We’ve Found Love (Third World), Rasputin (Boney M. I wonder what version of Tarzan Boy we’ll get in Yearbook 85, probably the original but in 85 the summer remix was the version we were hearing on the radio and on Now 6.Now Yearbook ’85 – Extra will be released early next year and the various artists compilation offers 60 more hits from from 1985. To be fair, the platform has improved a lot in recent years so most of what I want to include is available. As per my update in the main post, I am going to re-jig my Extra Plus playlists on foot of this Final Chapter announcement but will hold off for a bit in case that has an Extra coming as well. Oh, and neither the 7 inch versions of Like Clockwork or Rat Trap by the Boomtown Rats appear anywhere. Would need to manually rip most of the tracks from my vinyl and CD collection as I don’t already have them saved as MP3s.
