About this deal
Get On Down continues to support Hip-Hop culture by releasing and distributing albums by independent Hip-Hop artists and producers from the East Coast to the West Coast and Down South. ATLiens debuted at number two on the billboard top 100, and sold nearly 350,000 copies in its first two weeks of release.
The player and the poet are on ten, trading bars about spirituality, race, drugs, poverty, ‘Lac grills and trapping. The record also received rave reviews from music critics, who praised the album's musicality and unique lyrical themes.
There are some great guests- Wu-Tang's Raekwon on Skew It on the Bar-B, easily one of the great Wu-related tracks of recent years (when the albums became less enjoyable)- up there with Killah Priest's One Step Up, ODB's Recognize or Cappadonna's If It's Alright With You. Listening to this record, all my usual gripes about music being dead or over in a morass of retroism are quelled; an album that looks backwards to move forward, or moves forward while looking back. It will be housed in a gold foil stamped jacket with a printed lyrics insert, printed inner sleeves, and commemorative OBI. The carefully-pressed, 180-gram vinyl is the definitive version of their 1998 classic, Aquemini, for audiophiles and casual listeners alike, providing a superior sound experience with unprecedented sonic clarity. It takes a few listens to sink in, but on Aquemini, Outkast have pulled off a rare feat in hip-hop: they've made a good record that's a masterpiece of subtlety.More ambitious and hook driven then their debut album, 2000's Stankonia is a trippy sort of technopsychedelic funk.
