About this deal

The Barista Express is a bit more aimed towards the mainstream market, and they expect Barista Express users to be using “normal” mainstream coffee beans. The added complication of integrated grinder machines as I mentioned earlier, is that you have the potential grinder issues and espresso machine issues in one unit, and the chances of suffering an issue with either your grinder or the espresso machine part of the unit within 3-5 years I'd say is fairly high. It comes with a milk jug, a tamper, and the Razor tool, which is a prep tool specific to Sage machines that ensures a level surface and also makes sure you always have the correct headspace – the gap between the coffee and the shower screen, the part that the water comes through. So hopefully you can see how much control there is over the grind here and that it really is up to you to tweak this to how you like it.

The Thermacoil heating system includes an adjustable temperature control, so you can keep the temperature in line with the coffee you want and prevent loss of flavour from overheating. We and our partners also use cookies that allow us to measure traffic and show you personalised content and ads rather than basic shiz. If I were you, at the very least I’d go for something like the Sage Dual Boiler – this is actually a very low-cost machine considering it’s a dual boiler, it’s a lot of machine for the money. On the plus side for the original thermocoil present in the Barista Express, although it takes a bit longer to heat up (about 30 seconds vs 3 seconds), the thermocoil is more substantial, and this means that it retains its heat for longer. The hot water dispenser will provide you with instant hot water, great for black coffees, while the 6 cup warming tray will make sure a cold cup doesn’t detract from your enjoyment.

in the bowl, dip a cloth in it and give the machine a good wipe with this puly caff solution (other espresso machine cleaners are available, you can get liquids too which are a bit easier as they don’t need dissolving, you just pour a bit in the bowl) leave it for minute or so, and then wipe it off with another cloth just with hot clean water, and then dry it off. We also ask that you exercise a degree of care when using any electrical appliance and adhere to the following precautions.

Before placing the portafilter into the group head, run a short flow of water through the group head by pressing the 1 CUP button.I’ll try that and let you know, but in any case you can just give it a light tamp with the lever just to slightly flatten the coffee so it doesn’t catch on the lip as you’re removing it. In summary, the Sage the Barista Express BES875 espresso machine is a convenient and compact home coffee maker that is designed to produce high-quality coffee using coffee beans. If you’re thinking of something like up to 20 or so double espressos per day, the machine would be fine with that, but if you might do this within a period of just a few hours and a lot of them are cappuccino, flat white or latte for instance, you may find a machine like this will be too slow, as you can’t steam milk and pull shots at the same time, as you would if you were using a dual boiler or heat exchanger machine which allows you to pull shots while you’re steaming milk.

The group head interior and shower screen should be wiped with a damp cloth to remove any ground coffee particles.I – This is where the portafilter is attached (once full of ground coffee and tamped) and where the water is dispensed from to brew your coffee. The grinder isn’t able to fully grind beans but all of the front buttons seem to be working as intended. Because two of us wants use the machine, but one is complete new beginner whereas the other has a little experience.
