About this deal

With up to 55% Chardonnay and a minimum of four years aging in the cellars, La Cuvée is delicate yet complex with crisp notes of citrus fruit and white flowers, and great length on the finish.

Its bubbles are insistent, finely carved and add to the early sensations of lightness and energy yet also carry the wine long into a balanced, refined finish.A greater proportion of Chardonnay grape is used in La Cuvee, almost twice that commonly found in other champagne, giving the expression greater freshness and elegance. This variety which is very often the majority, brings Brut Sans Année from "La Cuvée" to the House's champagnes with the most prestigious Cuvées bringing the freshness, the elegance and purity which are much sought after and make the Laurent-Perrier style so distinct. We met with Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet to visit Laurent-Perrier's renovated cellars and conduct a vertical tasting of Brut Vintage and Grand Siècle (all from magnum) alongside Jancis Robinson MW. Broad and supple in texture, with sappy red berry and blood orange flavors supported by a firm spine of minerality.

Laurent Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut NV is one of the most widely-recognised and popular Rosé Champagnes.With another war looking likely Eugenie sold the company in 1939 to Mary-Louise Lanson de Nonancourt. Not my personal favourite style but it's certainly true to the ordained style and a lot of care goes into making it. All those tiny bubbles trapped in a redcurrant and apple-flavoured alcoholic concoction so delicious, creamy and light, it's a wonder they want to escape. However, in 1968, Laurent-Perrier broke tradition and changed sparkling wine forever when they created their world-famous Rosé. He selects grapes from the best areas of the Champagne vineyards, vinifies each batch separately and monitors the blends with high standards.

Purity, freshness and elegance - essential characteristics, expressed in this champagne which embodies the spirit of the House. Using the highest quality Pinot Noir grapes, this iconic rosé is one of the few rosé champagnes that is made by drawing the juice from black grapes in the vat, instead of blending red and white wines. Its citrus and white fruit notes and its remarkable balance, supported by a subtle effervescence, make it an ideal accompaniment to poultry and the finest fish. The maceration, lasting from 48-72 hours depending on the harvest, helps the extraction of the colour and the development of the full aromatic richness of the Pinot Noir. The Grand Siecle concept is a blend of three great vintages, each bringing certain characteristics from different base years.Laurent-Perrier was founded in 1812 by André Michel but it was his cellar master Eugene Laurent, who ran it with his wife, Mathilde Emilie Perrier. Brut L-P is aged on its lees for approximately three years and only a very light dosage is used to preserve its balance and natural freshness. Bernard's two daughters now oversee the running of the business, carring on the work that Bernard did to produce one of the best Champagne brands.
