About this deal

Recommended for Ages 14 up. Bronwyn and her sister are half-Latino. One character comes out as gay midway through the story. Extreme profanity used with moderate frequency.Jun 5, 2017 Can a 12 year old read Girl in Pieces? But I think How To Make Friends With The Dark shows both sides well. How there are people who aren’t the best, and shouldn’t be looking after children, and the people who really care. At least Charlie in A Girl in Pieces was a character. She liked art and music, and knew how to take care of herself. Everything about Tiger I know is that her s’mother died, and her she use to skateboard. Sometimes family comes in forms you don’t recognize. But can Tiger learn to make friends with the darkness before it swallows her whole?

How to Make Friends with the Dark eBook by Kathleen Glasgow

Wondrous. She and Bonita are crazy for the affirmation talk. Cake likes to say their mission in life is to Build a Better Girl Than They Were. “You know,” she said once, “their moms probably put them on diets of cottage cheese before prom and told them to keep their legs closed around boys.”This book is really pessimistic, depressing, heart wrenching! Too many times I thought to stop reading but I pushed myself to be patient. Because I know really well how to lose someone and suffer from deepest and never ever ending pain! It never goes away because when you lose someone you lose some parts of yourselves and you turn into a different person. Not for viewers under the age 18. It is rated MA, so yes the audience should be mature, ie. have some serious life experience, before digesting this Dark series. Who is Jonas girlfriend in Dark? A rare and powerful novel." --Karen M. McManus, New York Times bestselling author of One of Us Is Lying and Two Can Keep a Secret

A rare and powerful novel.”–Karen M. McManus, New York Times bestselling author of One of Us Is Lying and Two Can Keep a Secret

She heaves a great sigh. “Shit,” she says. “Baby! I better get my ass in gear, huh?” She’s standing at the sink, trying to turn on the faucet, but nothing is coming out. “The water’s still crappy? I was hoping that was just a bad dream.” She nods to the faucet. The Perks of Being a Wallflower meets The End of the F***ing World in this dark young adult comedy about four unlikely friends dealing with the messy side of grief who embark on a road trip to Graceland. My heart thuds. We don’t have a lot, we never have, but we’ve made do with what my mom makes as the county Bookmobile lady and from helping out at Bonita’s daycare. Come summer, we’ve got the Jellymobile, but that’s another story. The book is very unique, heart-breaking and has strong statements within that you'll love while reading it! Girl In Pieces was among my most favourite reads of 2018, I can tell that this will also be in my top reads because it's such an amazing book.

And for a book that says grief takes a lifetime, I don’t see why it thinks it must also FEEL like a lifetime to read about. I’m not kidding. This was one of the hardest reads to get through. And I’ve read the Fountainhead AND Atlas Shrugged. At least the last chapter of Atlas made me angry for how long and pointless it was, and how it’s ruining its story by preaching. There are too many scary things outside world. You may loose your loved ones, you can hurt yourself in several ways. You can lose your possessions, your social circles, your carrier or your dignity, patience, reputation.

This story hauls you into its heart to live the pain in all its careening, messy, and miraculous glory. A brilliant, honest, raw look at what it really means to lose someone essential and make grudging peace with what is gained in the exchange.”— Estelle Laure, author of This Raging Light

I thought she might wake up in time to take me to school, but in the end, I texted Cake. Don’t know what she did last night, but my sister isn’t getting up. Give me a ride? In the car, she says, “Maybe she parties or something. I mean her FB was full of beer shots.” “I haven’t seen her drink one thing while she’s been here.” “Well, she’s only twenty. Maybe she went to a meet-up or something. Es werden allerdings auch Dinge wie das Pflege-/ bzw. Jugendstrafsystem in den USA, Mobbing an Schulen, Alkohol-/ und Drogenabhängigkeit, Obdachlosigkeit, Armut, sowie Gewalt an Kindern und Jugendlichen angesprochen und damit muss man erstmal zurechtkommen. It reminded me of when I was grieving for my furbabies Tasha and Lilly, my bird Woody, Grandma, and Pop Pop. I kept thinking I was feeling this.. I experienced that! She gets it!Above all what kept me reading How to Make Friends with the Dark is Tiger and her grief. At times I needed to step away from this book because of how emotional it was making me. We feel the depths of Tiger’s grief, the way she feels separated from the world around her – a girl in a jar. And throughout the book, we witness Tiger processing the complicated relationship she had with her mother, their last fight, and how to move on without her. Tuesdays with Morrie made me sob like a baby... How to Make Friends with the Dark did not. In fact, it left me feeling a smidge ambivalent.
