Side guide

On Blu-Ray. com I noticed there are two Blu-Ray boxsets coming. Images are provided too, but I am not sure that will be the definitive artwork.

Ray Milland appeared as a murderer in "The Greenhouse Jungle" (1972) and the husband of the victim in "Death Lends a Hand" (1971). If it isn’t any better then they wouldn’t be doing it. Blue ray has ‘scrubbed up’ lots of old series. But what makes Columbo still feel so relevant today is the notion of the crusading little guy. The lieutenant pursued killers regardless of class or status – even going after his own commissioner in one story – and never falters in his belief that, no matter how mighty the murderer, their amassed power won’t stand up to his relentless prodding. As he casually tells a therapist who is trying to get away with strangling his wife: “You take our friend here, the murderer. He’s very smart, but he’s an amateur. I mean, he’s got just one time to learn. Just one. And with us cops, well – it’s a business. We do this a hundred times a year. I’ll tell ya, doc, that’s a lot of practice.”

Splendid series with plenty of suspense , humor , mystery , emotion and twists . Peter Falk , who in real-life was a long life cigarrette smoker and he added this personal touch, as well as he provided his own wardrobe , including his famous raincoat . Peter gives a magnificent acting as the botcher detective with ingenious demeanor, and disheveled appearance , a completely different point of view against the original project that was as a suave and polished inspector . Falk provides a humorous , comical dimension , but beneath his unusual aspect he is probably the most obstinate and intelligent investigator in Los Angeles police department facing off cunning and nasty people . Falk's debut as the raincoat-clad officer was in 1967 : Columbo , Prescription murder , directed by Richard Irving with Gene Barry , William Windom , Nina Foch , this was the TV series pilot in which he investigates the death of a psychiatrist's wife, of course, Columbo winkles out the killer ; this show's was an instant success . Although , Bing Crosby was offered the first role , but he refused and then Falk took the character who he went on until his death . The play was adapted to a made-for-TV movie in 1968, with Falk debuting in the role. In this made-for-TV movie, Columbo—rather than making the rumpled presentation that later became the character's trademark—is less shabbily dressed, wearing suits, shorter hair, and heavier stage makeup. He carries a raincoat, which would become a staple. He wears the raincoat in most of the scenes. He also appears somewhat more aggressive when confronting suspects. Though not a repeat murderer, Robert Vaughn starred in two episodes: once as the murderer in "Troubled Waters" (1975), and once as the victim in "Last Salute to the Commodore" (1976). Joyce Van Patten starred in "Old Fashioned Murder" (1976) as the murderer, and played a minor supporting role in "Negative Reaction" (1974).
